Overview

Tra Vinh is a coastal province in the Mekong Delta, South Vietnam. Previously, Tra Vinh area was also called Tra Vang. The name of Tra Vang is originally derived from the ancient Mon-Khmer language commonly known as Trah Pang. The name reflects the characteristics of the ancient landscape of new land that was accreted in Riverside and coastal areas with many low-lying, swampy areas, etc. Therefore, Tra Vinh is a relatively young province.

The provincial capital is Tra Vinh city located on Highway 53, about 130 km from Ho Chi Minh City and 100 km from Can Tho city. Tra Vinh City has decided to set up a special zone on the basis of the whole province of Tra Vinh and Tra Vinh town since March 2010.

2/ Topography

Tra Vinh is located at the end of the island between the Tien River and the Hau River. The topography is a mainly flat land with an elevation of over 1m above the sea surface. In coastal plains, sand dunes should be built, running continuously in an arc and parallel to the coast. The more towards the sea, the higher and larger the mounds are.

Due to the fragmentation by the mounds and the intermittent road system, the canal is quite complicated. The low-lying areas are interwoven with high ridge, the sloping trend is only shown in each field. Particularly in the southern part of the province is a low land area, which is divided into a number of low-lying sandy areas, many places are only 0.5-0.8 m in height, so they often suffer from salinity every year from 0.4 to 0.8 min 3-5 months.

3/River

In the area of Tra Vinh, there is the main river system with a total length of 578 km, including large rivers including Hau River and Co Chien River. The rivers and canals in Tra Vinh area flow into the sea mainly through the two main estuaries: Co Chien gate, and Dinh An gates.

4/ Climate

Located in the Mekong Delta region, Tra Vinh province also has common advantages such as having abundant radiation lighting conditions, high and stable temperature. However, due to the characteristics of the coastal climate zone of the province, Tra Vinh has some meteorological limitations such as strong winds, high evaporation and little rain.

Tra Vinh is located in the tropics with a temperate climate, so the average temperature is 26-27oC, and the average humidity is 80-85% / year. Therefore, the place is less affected by storms and floods. The rainy season from May to November, the dry season from December - April next year, the average rainfall of 1,400 - 1,600 mm has favorable conditions for investment in production, business and tourism.

Every year, droughts often cause difficulties for production with the number of days without continuous rain from 10 to 18 days, in which districts such as Cau Ke, Cang Long and Tra Cu are districts with less drought. Tieu Can district is early in June and July, while the remaining districts such as Chau Thanh, Cau Ngang, Duyen Hai are in the middle of the season but July and August are often more serious. Tra Vinh also faces a difficulty now that it is saline in some dry seasons of the year.

Tra Vinh is a coastal province in the Mekong Delta, adjacent to Ben Tre, Vinh Long, and Soc Trang provinces; located between Tien River and Hau River. Furthermore, The Tra Vinh people are innocent, honest and hospitable, it is the friendliness that makes a good impression in the hearts of tourists, investors, and businesses when coming to Tra Vinh.
